photography is challenging. it's not just taking pictures; that's probably only like 20% of the job. the most challenging part though, is when couples aren't as excited to have their photos taken, as i am to take them. not to call out the guys, but being honest, often the future bride is excited and the future groom isn't.
this was one of the biggest takeaways for me back when i was starting in photography, but i've noticed a gradual shift as time progresses. i've noticed that couples who come to me today are VERY excited to take photos, and VERY excited to work with ME. since this shift, i'm doing what i love, when i love, and with the types of diverse people i love.
coltyn and hallie are the prime example of my ideal couple to work with. we road tripped to lost maples in vanderpool, texas. she's in law school, which is relatable because my wife is as well, and he works in law enforcement and has the best stories. we talked for hours about the fun things in life, but also the not so fun things. we waded through a creek fully clothed; they popped champagne on a boulder. it was so stress free, and i loved every minute.
we ended the night at a local brewery in rural bandera. we ate at a food truck, chatted up the owner and brewmaster, laughed until my face hurt, and walked through their wedding day. this is so much more than just a business to me; i'm striving to create lifelong relationships and surround myself with the best people in the world. sharing this passion with others is the best way for me to do that.
their wedding is this summer in st. louis. here are some of my favorites.
